ShiftBell (“the App”, “we”) is made by BORABADA. ShiftBell works without accounts and keeps your data on your device — and, if you choose to back it up, in your own iCloud. This policy explains what the App does — and does not — collect.
Your shift schedule, alarms, wake confirmations, streaks, and journal entries are stored on your iPhone. Wake photos (if you use the Selfie method) are stored locally, encrypted at rest, and deliberately excluded from iCloud/iTunes backups. We run no servers and cannot see, collect, or access any of this information. The one optional exception is the iCloud backup described below, which goes to your own iCloud account rather than to us.
Settings ▸ iCloud backup can save a copy of your schedule, wake history and journal to your own iCloud account, in the private database Apple provides to this app. It lives in your iCloud storage, under your Apple Account. We have no servers and no access to it: we cannot read it, download it or delete it. You can delete it yourself from the same screen at any time.
The backup is manual — nothing is uploaded unless you tap “Back up now” — and wake photos are excluded from it, so they never leave the device.
If you enable the morning briefing, the App uses your approximate location to fetch local weather for your shift hours through Apple WeatherKit. Location is used only to retrieve that weather; we do not store your location or share it with anyone. You can deny or revoke location access in iOS Settings — the briefing simply omits weather.
Weather data is provided by Apple Weather. The meteorological sources behind it are listed on Apple’s attribution page: Apple Weather data sources.
ShiftBell Pro is optional. Payments are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to validate and manage your subscription entitlement. RevenueCat receives a randomly generated app-user identifier and your App Store purchase/receipt information; it does not receive your name or contact details. See Apple’s and RevenueCat’s privacy policies for how they handle this data.
If you choose the Selfie wake method, the App opens the camera so you can take a wake photo as proof you were up. Photos stay on your device, are encrypted at rest, and are removed automatically after 30 days. You can look at them and delete them at any time in Settings ▸ Wake confirmation ▸ Stored wake photos, or turn saving off entirely with the “Keep wake photos” switch. Nothing is uploaded, and they are excluded from backups. The Place method compares the photo against the reference you registered and discards it without storing it.
If you turn on holidays or calendar features, the App reads your device calendars to show holidays and events alongside your shifts. This is read-only, stays on your device, and can be turned off in Settings or revoked in iOS Settings.
The App schedules local alarms and reminders on your device. These are generated and delivered locally; no push server is involved.
On supported devices, the weekly reflection in Insights uses Apple Intelligence on-device to turn your own journal entries into a couple of sentences. It runs on your iPhone and nothing is sent to us. On devices without Apple Intelligence the feature is hidden and the rest of the App is unaffected.
We do not use accounts or logins. We do not show ads. We do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data.
Because your data lives on your device, you are in control: you can reset your calendar, streak, and records in Settings, and deleting the App removes everything it stored on the iPhone.
If you made an iCloud backup, that copy stays in your own iCloud after the App is deleted — that is what makes it a backup. Remove it with Settings ▸ iCloud backup ▸ Delete iCloud backup, or from your iCloud storage settings. Subscription records are held by Apple and RevenueCat under their own policies.
ShiftBell is intended for a general audience of working adults and is not directed to children under 13.
We may update this policy as the App changes. Material changes will be reflected here with a new date.
